Online Guitar Tabs vs Playing Guitar By Ear

November 13, 2014 by · 2 Comments

Guitar Tabs vs. Playing Guitar By EarAs a guitar instructor, I routinely deal with students trying to learn songs they want to play. After all, that’s the whole point of this thing of ours, right? The thing that I notice over and over, however, is the increasing dependence of most students on some sort of online tab website to provide the details on how a given song is played, rather than learning the song in the time-honored play-along-with-the-record ear-based method. When I talk to students about this Read more

Easy Guitar Songs for Electric GuitarWhen you decide that you’re serious about learning how to play music on guitar, then my advice would be to learn as many of your favorite songs as you can. You should target easy songs and progress your way up to more difficult music.  Make sure you have a CD or mp3 of the song available so you can play along with it; this will help you build structure and timing.

There are cool programs and tools available at your local music store which allows you to slow down the music, which slowly helps you build your speed and timing up. Do a search here on Gear-Vault.com for training gear to learn with, we have gobs of reviews.

As mentioned, I can’t stress enough that learning easy songs to begin with will help you advance your skills. There are many great jams to choose from, your options are virtually endless, and, perhaps, subjective to some. Read more

Hallelujah Chords w/ Tab and Lyrics – Jeff Buckley Version

Halleluja Chords Jeff Buckley

Hallelujah Chords The Easy Way

This is a magnificent song off Buckley’s debut 1994 “Grace” album. The original was by Leonard Cohen. However, we transcribed ‘Hallelujah‘ from Jeff Buckley’s version.

Guitars at Musician's Friend

The Leonard Coen hallelujah has had a slight resurgence in the last few years with over 100 cover versions performed by such artists such as Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, Rufus Wainwright, and Bono just to name but a few.

As for which version of the song is better, well, I guess we’ll leave that up for you to decide. But for this latest resurgence of a 24 year old work, it must be the Cohen Hallelujah. After been swindled out of millions by his manager he’ll certainly appreciate the paycheck. To that, I’m sure he’ll say… “hallelujah“. Read more

Iron man by Black Sabbath Guitar Tab

March 23, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Iron Man by Black Sabbath Guitar Tabs Toni IommiIron Man by Black Sabbath is one of my 5 easy guitar songs because of the simple chord progression. Not only is this song easy to play, it sounds powerful. This song is the beginning of metal guitar. Since the songs release in 1970, a lot of notable bands have re-made a cover of “Iron Man.”  Iron Man has also been used in many TV show, films and, or course, sporting events. Since the 1976 release of Black Sabbath’s ‘We Sold Our Soul for Rock ‘n’ Roll‘ album, “Iron Man“, by no surprise, has been included in subsequent Black Sabbath greatest hits compilations. Even the sound track of the 2008 comic book film, Iron Man, included the “Iron Man” song. This song should be on everyone’s favorite “easy guitar songs to learn” list. Below is the guitar tab for Iron Man. This is a public guitar tab transcribed, but not original. There are many ways to play this song, and I believe Tony Iommi has played it different ways while performing live. Now stop reading and start learning this guitar song!
