If you are from within the United States and Canada, you are entitled to join. The grand prize winner will get a Gretsch G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet guitar plus a copy of “George Harrison: Living in the Material World“, the companion book to the documentary by Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The G6128T-GH is not your everyday guitar. It is a $3500 sleek black guitar, based on the late-1950s-era Gretsch model. It was modeled after George’s original 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet, which he referred to as his “first real decent guitar.” It features the same distinctive modifications found on Harrison’s original guitar, which he purchased “used” in the early ’60s.
The guitar that you can win sports an all Black color scheme with an arched maple top, mahogany back and sides. It has a ’50s style chambered body with a Bigsby B3C tailpiece and a black Philips head tremolo arm pivot. And most importantly, it has Harrison’s signature on the truss rod cover to add that Fab Four mojo into the guitar. If you want to compare it to the original, George Harrison’s original Duo Jet is now at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles.
The book – “George Harrison: Living in the Material World” is written by Olivia Harrison and published by Abrams Books. It is a 400-page hardcover book with derived from Harrison’s personal stash of photos, letters, diaries and memorabilia. It gives an unprecedented and detailed look at the entire life of George Harrison, a great musician who along with the Beatles touched the lives of millions. Gretsch will also give five second-prize winners a copy of the book.
